In an industry where efficiency, automation and flexibility make the difference, digitalisation is no longer just a competitive advantage, but a condition for development. This is also the context in which, starting in December 2024, Zaleco – a Romanian manufacturer of paper, corrugated cardboard and smart packaging for industries such as automotive, telecom, electronics, aeronautics and the food industry – chose to collaborate with DIH4Society experts to accelerate its digital transformation journey.
The company, which serves over 250 customers and constantly invests in cutting-edge technologies and digital systems such as Acumatica ERP, Asana and Tulip Manufacturing, sought through this partnership to strengthen both its digital maturity and the level of cybersecurity of its production processes.
The first step was assessing the digital transformation journey, an exercise that gave the Zaleco team an objective picture of the current level of digitalisation and of development opportunities. The analysis helped identify priorities for the next stages, supporting decisions on investments and the integration of new technologies into production processes.
An important component of the collaboration concerned strengthening cyber resilience. Through testing services in a simulated cyber range and cyber incident response, the company assessed its ability to identify and manage cyber threats, in a context in which industrial infrastructures are becoming more connected and more exposed to digital risks.
However, digital transformation also means developing people's skills. That is why Zaleco specialists took part in the training programmes “Cybersecurity for Everyone” (levels 1 and 2), “Cyber Security Defender” and “Industrial Network Security”, acquiring practical knowledge for preventing, detecting and managing security incidents specific to the industrial environment.
The collaboration was complemented by participation in the International Conference “Innovation in Manufacturing”, organised by DIH4Society, where the company's representatives had the opportunity to interact with experts, technology providers and other companies concerned with digitalisation and innovation. These exchanges of experience contributed to strengthening a vision oriented towards collaboration and the adoption of the best practices in the industry.
Zaleco's experience demonstrates that digital transformation is not limited to implementing new technologies, but requires an integrated approach, in which digital maturity assessment, cybersecurity, skills development and connection to innovation ecosystems together contribute to increasing a company's competitiveness.
