DIH4Society's perspective at the round table organised by the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR)

On Thursday, 22 January, Andrei Kelemen took part, as a speaker, in the “Digital Transformation Working Roundtable”, a high-level dialogue organised by the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR), in partnership with the Romanian Municipalities Association (AMR), under the patronage of the Mayor of Cluj-Napoca Municipality.

In the session dedicated to Digital Innovation Hubs (DIH) perspectives, Andrei Kelemen presented DIH4Society's vision on the main strategic directions needed to build a competitive and secure European digital future.

Un prim pilon abordat a fost strengthening the digital sovereignty of the European Union, through growth-oriented regulation, adapted to market realities and capable of accelerating the adoption of digital technologies, avoiding excessive bureaucracy. He also stressed the importance of ensuring equitable access to critical infrastructures such as Cloud, Artificial Intelligence and High-Performance Computing (HPC) across the Union. In this context, the “EU Inc.” initiative and the 28th regime were highlighted as key solutions to facilitate the scaling of European companies within a unified framework.

Un alt subiect central a fost the impact of artificial intelligence on society and the labour market. Andrei Kelemen drew attention to the need to anticipate and manage the often unpredictable effects of AI on society, as well as the rapid transformations in the labour sector, especially in the white-collar and IT fields. Although certain roles will disappear, he stressed that new opportunities will emerge for a well-prepared and adaptable workforce.

The key message conveyed at the event was clear: Europe's future is digital, and the way forward requires pragmatic regulation, solid infrastructure and continued investment in skills development for the age of artificial intelligence.
